A connector links the AI agent to another system that supports MCP, a common standard for connecting AI to software. Your agent can then look things up there, such as a customer record or product details.
Ask a developer or the vendor of the other system for its MCP server address and sign-in method.

Lookups and actions

Connected tools fall into two groups:
  • Lookups only read information. They are the safer choice.
  • Actions change something in the other system, like updating a record.
We recommend turning on lookups first. Turn on actions only when you trust the rules you have written.

Add a connector

1

Open connectors

Go to the AI section, then Tools, then connectors, and add a new one.
2

Enter the details

Give it a name, paste the server address, and choose how it signs in.
3

Review the tools found

Risponse lists what the other system offers. Check the read and write grouping carefully, because it can be wrong.
4

Switch tools on or off

Enable only what the agent needs.
5

Test it

Ask the agent a question that needs the connector, from a test chat.

Good to know

  • The agent only uses tools you enabled, and only when a chat needs them.
  • If an action fails or takes too long, the agent may tell the customer your team will confirm. Check the other system yourself in that case.
  • You can refresh the tool list, disconnect a connector, or sign in again if access expires.
A connector can expose private business data. Share only what the agent needs, and review its activity regularly.
