# Data exports

> Download your Risponse data, including chats, messages, tickets, notes, and audit history, as a file you can open in a spreadsheet.

Need your data for a report, an audit, or a backup? You can export it from Risponse and open it in a spreadsheet.

## What you can export

* Chats and group members
* Messages
* Private notes
* Tickets
* Connected numbers
* Activity history, such as label, assignee, and membership changes

## Export from the data exports page

**1. Open data exports**

Go to analytics and choose data exports. 

**2. Choose a type**

Select the kind of data you want.

**3. Click export**

A window opens where you can set the date range, file format, and filters.

**4. Pick how to receive it**

Download now for a quick file, or have it emailed to you for larger exports.

>
> Direct downloads suit smaller exports. Big exports are better sent by email, as they can take a while. 

## Other ways to export

* **A single chat:** open it and use the export option in the side panel.
* **Many chats:** select them in the chat list and choose export. See [bulk actions](https://docs.risponse.com/features/bulk-actions.md).
* **Tickets:** select tickets and use the ticket export option. 

## File formats

Most exports are CSV files, which open in Excel and Google Sheets. Group member exports from the chat list may come as XLSX. 

## Tips

* Use a date range to keep files small.
* Treat exported files as private. They may hold customer phone numbers and messages.
* Only admins should be able to export. Check [team access and roles](https://docs.risponse.com/features/team-access-and-roles.md).
