# Chat list bulk actions

> Select many chats in Risponse and update them together. Add labels, mark as read, pin, archive, add group members, or export in one step.

Changing chats one by one takes time. Bulk actions let you pick many chats and apply a change to all of them at once.

## How it works

In the chat list, you select chats. A toolbar appears with the actions you can run on that selection.

## Run a bulk action

**1. Filter first**

Narrow the list so it only shows the chats you want to change. For example, filter by a [label](https://docs.risponse.com/features/labels.md).

**2. Select chats**

Tick the box on each chat, or use the top checkbox to select all.

**3. Use the toolbar**

A toolbar shows up at the bottom of the screen. 

**4. Pick an action and confirm**

Choose what to do, review the number of chats, and confirm.

## What you can do

* **Update chats:** add or remove labels, mark as read or unread, pin, archive, or switch on AI features for the selection. 
* **Group actions:** add one contact to every selected group. The connected number must be an admin of each group.
* **Upload labels or properties:** apply prepared labels or [custom property](https://docs.risponse.com/features/custom-properties.md) values to many chats, helpful after importing contacts.
* **Export:** download the selected chats for reports or audits. See [data exports](https://docs.risponse.com/features/data-exports.md).

>
> Check your selection before you confirm. Bulk changes touch every chat you picked, and some are tedious to undo.

## Tips

* Filter before you select, so you do not catch extra chats.
* Make sure AI settings are ready before you turn them on for many chats.
* Remove labels you no longer use to keep the list clean.
